TRR179
Conference in Freiburg
29 - 31/05/2022
It was a great pleasure to welcome you all to the international conference of DFG-funded collaborative research center TRR 179 “Determinants and dynamics of elimination vs. persistence of hepatitis virus infection” in the Kollegiengebäude I in Freiburg on May 29-31., 2022.
We hope that you enjoyed the atmosphere of the conference and had an exciting and productive meeting on "Viral hepatitis and beyond: from basic science to cure". The conference highlighted insides into viral replication, innate defense, and anti-viral adaptive immunity in the context of viral hepatitis. The target audience were basic and clinical scientists, therefore sessions included basic and clinical, cell biology, virology, and immunology. In our research consortium TRR 179, basic and clinical scientists examine and investigate hepatitis virus infection and persistence. We use integrative approaches that account for the interplay of the various immune cells involved in antiviral defense, the viral factors, the liver microenvironment and its alterations induced by viral infection and immune responses to get further insights. We are convinced that our unique network will not only lead to novel findings into the immune system, but also guide the development of new therapies for the cure of chronic viral hepatitis.
